Default 52mm or a 58mm TB?

Which TB should I purchase, the 52mm or the 58mm? I have a '91 L98 and can't see a reason to get the bigger one if they are both the same price. Also, how many more horse power should I get out of it with just this add on? What if I put 24# injectors on along with it? Thanks for the input to all that replay.

No HP for either one. Stick with stock.

You dont need a bigger TB until you either enlarge the engine or do away with TPI. The TB is not your limiting factor.

Bigger injectors give NO hp.

I agree with vader. You have to open up the entire intake to use the 52 or 58 mm, and even then, the increased airflow will only help minimally until the engine actually requires increased air flow (increased displacement). However, I remember reading in a magazine once that it is not a bad idea to go with the 58 mm because it wont hurt you, and gives you more options later. I plan on doing this at some point so when I blow up my 350, I can build up a 383 with big flowing heads.

Save the $$$ and get an exhaust instead.

From what I understand, the intake manifold which was designed for a 305CDI is the most restrictive part of the combination. After that, you just about have to change everything from the plenum to the exhaust to get any real HP gains.

From all that I've read after joining the Forum last year, as well as publications, is the single biggest bang for the buck is to change out the exhaust when it comes to the L98. Start with a good cat-back ($400 - $700) then dirch the exhaust manifolds in favor of a good set of headers & Y pipe ($500 - $900)....you can easily get a good overall setup for about $1,000
