egr removal question

Default egr removal question

is it ok to remove and block the egr valve and if so what to do with the electrical connectors (the one wire going to the egr)and(the ones going to the egr solinoid)? if it should not be removed does anyone have one for sale also this question is for a 85 tpi vette thanks

You don't have to remove / block the EGR. If you remove the plug from the solenoid OR the vacuum line from the EGR it can't open and just blocks off the exhaust. If you remove the solenoid, just fold the wires back and tie wrap them out of the way. BTW you will get a code 32 - EGR failure when you do this.

You don't need to remove the EGR to enhance performance as the valve is only open under limited conditions like steady cruise.

If you want to disable the system, just unplug and block the vacuum line as indicated and have a custom chip blown to turn off the code 32.
