I have a 94LT1 and just recently purchased a AutoXray scanner. I cleared the codes but I keep reading a "43 Electronic Spark Control Failure" in the History. The car seems to run fine and the current codes show no current codes. I have noticed that the car at times has a very minor problem starting and that my millage has been a bit low. Anyone care to guess whats going on.
Well, today I used the 1/2 Cent paper clip to evaluate the problem and saw that I have a C12 and a H43 to look into. Obviously the +$300 Scanner was no match for the paper clip and manual. Knock Sensor (GM Manual) VS Electronic Spark Control Failure (AutoXray Scanner), I should have returned that thing as soon as I realized it didnt do anything aside from the Engine Computer. One side note, I did notice that both fans run regardless of the engine temperature. Any ideas on what may be the cause of that?
Re: Electronic Spark Control Failure?? (HighHopes85)
Well, it looks like it was the knock sensor that was to blame. Actually what I have found is that I have a oil leak (great) that dripped on the connector filling it with sludge. I pulled the connector off, cleaned it out with brake cleaner and hooked it back up and Presto, the car is running w/o problems.
