89 Paul in Cal The engine is 350, I did not want to bore it out any since the block was new and then I found a good deal on pistons for it, I wanted to do a 383 but that would have cost more and I would have had to bore it 0.030 over.
Here is a run down on how much it has cost me:

Block...ZZ4 $400
Crank...Scat cast 3.48 $180
Rods...Eagle SIR 5.7 $100
Pistons...TRW-SpeedPro forged $100
Rings...SpeedPro Molly $80
Cam...CompCam 224-232 @0.050 0.503-0.510 lift with 1.5 112 set on 106 $125
Lifters...Crane $100
Timing chain...Cloyes True Roller $30
Heads $470 going to have a little more in them since Im going to put new seals and do a valve job too.
Other parts $100

Machine work
Size the rods $40
I did not have to hone it.

I know there are better parts out there but since the engine will not have more then 400HP (I will be happy if I get 385) so I thought the parts that I had would be plenty since most off them are good for more power.

:lolg: I love it - and I guess we all do it! When I started out to rebuild my LT4, because I toasted it on a road course when the oil pump drive gear sheared, my goal was "equal performance for minimum cost."

Starting budget goal $4,500 or less.

End result (I can't bear to repeat the $$$): major block work, .030 over torque plate align bored cylinders & for new crank, etc; valve job with major head porting, plus cutting reliefs for larger springs, etc; Hot Cam is simple, right? Then add for hi perf lifters, chrome moly pushrods, guideplates, Crane Gold rollers, Comp Cams springs, etc; GM LT4 Extreme Duty Timing set; ARP bolts everywhere; road race pan & blue printed HV pump; replace every sensor - temps, pressures, knocks, etc; EM Headers + rear O2 eliminators/foolers. Oops - need a Ron Davis radiator & oil cooler. Damn - already .030 over, why not make it a 383? Ok, get a 4340 forged crank & rods, forged pistons, file fit rings, etc. Gee, let's change it to a full internal balance, so back to the maching shop for rotating assembly balance & crank fitted with mallory metal to zero, the add new billet zero balance billet flywheel; new harmonic balancer @ zero. Darn it - forgot the Random bullet cats for the new EM headers - oh, oh - need to custom fab connectors out of stainless to tie in the the Corsa system..... OK, the 30# injectors arrived and the 52mm TB is ready, so send computer out for reprogramming..... But I've still got the new water pump & Opti from last year - I didn't have to replace everything! You got the picture - I should have bought a Z06
