Default LT4 people verify something for me please!

The rocker studs on an LT4 were metric correct? Also the polylocks did NOT have set screws in them?

A friend has a set of rockers that were supposed to be GM performance parts rockers. They don't look like the later ones which look just like the crane golds. I've heard rumor that there was an earlier style that was originally used before they were redesigned.

To give some credit to this the rocker studs that came with them are certainly different and the polylocks don't have set screws. They look like they COULD take a set screw though.

Thanks guys!

I purchased the hot cam kit, which came with the un-anodized Crane 'gold' rockers with the little bow-tie stamped on them, and the nuts to lock them down were 5/8ths...the same as the factory GM smallblock nuts used on 3/8th studs.

I cannot remember the size of the hex set-screw.

I hope this helps...

Nathan, you are correct original (after recall) stock LT4 is metric studs with non-adjustable roller rockers. (Just assemble and lock polylock).
The original, before the recall on LT4 were differant style and were replace
beause of problems with them.

The OEM LT4 stud is on the right. It is shouldered. The rocker arm is set in place with the lifter on the base circle of the cam and the nut is torqued to 18lb ft. On the left is a GMPP 3/8" stud. The 3/8" stud is standard on the LT1 and is also installed on LT4 heads that are purchased "over the counter".

The studs are identical pre and post recall. The rockers also look identical. The issue was the pin that retains the roller tip. The pin liked to back out of the recalled units. Crane changed the installation method to prevent this.
