if you mean seat covers(i.e.-that go over your existing leather seats)--- got a great set for my 84 that i am very happy with from mid america corvettefor about $80 ;)
My original leather seat covers are at the end of their life and I remember a post talking about cloth replacement seat covers. I can't find it in the archives.
I've searched hi and lo and they haven't been available in years. :mad I truely cannot understand why they don't offer them :banghead: I sure would buy a pair. Someone once on the forum recommended Ed Koch upholstery....but I can't find the website anymore.
A guy at work has an 86 and used to work for a Chevy dealer tells me that he knows for sure that at least until 87 cloth seats and interior were available from the factory.
Supposedly, the cloth replacement covers haven't been available for a while. The last owner replaced the orig leather on my '88 with some custom upoulstered(never did pass a spelling test) cloth covers. They look very factory, although are definately not factory style clother. They are very nice with diferent types of cloths for the parts you sit on and the bolsters. They look great and are very comfortable, although I've always prefered leather. I think they've been ont he car about 20k miles and still look brand new.
I would be willing to sell these to offset the cost of new leather, but I have some money tied up(imagine 2 sets of spare wheels and a ton loaned to a friend) and won't be able to spring for the new leather for a little while.
Might be able to work something out if you're interested, though. '88 and '87 had the same style seats. They're black, btw.
I looked at a wrecked 91 last month that was for sale. It had cloth seats, not cloth covers over leather. I figured they were original because the car only had 28K on it and they were in great shape. Could have been a special order item in that year, I don't have my black book with me to look up if that was an option.
I remembered seeing a picture of cloth material for seat covers in Corvette Central's C4 catalog. It is on the same page as the pictures showing the leather and leather like materials. Called them and was told that cloth was not available any longer because there were too few year models that had cloth seats as an option. I guess I'll have to have my seats done at an upholstery shop as I sweat badly on leather seats. I would like to know the story about the cloth seats in the wrecked 91 I looked at. If they weren't original they were sure quality job by someone.
My '93 came with cloth seats. They are great in a hot climate. Unfortunatley, they were becoming worn so I covered them with Wet Okoles a couple of months ago. I'm pretty sure that 93 was the last year that they were available.
93 was the last year for cloth seats. Sometime in the late 80's, (87 or 88) GM discontinued cloth seats as standard and made the leather seats standard. Cloth was then an option (similar to a radio delete option). Starting on the 94 model, GM no longer offered this downgrade option from leather to cloth.
If you don't want to spend the money for leather, the leather-like is supposed to be close. Either that or the Corvette catalogs also offer Driver's Leather seats. They only offer them in black, but if this is your daily driver, I would look at those too. The leather used doesn't meet their requirements as far as looks (might have a blemish or different grain to the leather, etc.).
