Default BLM's @ 110 (Idle)

Threw the scanner on the old vette (89 w/SD swap), My BLM's are at 108-110. something isn't right. I had just put on a new Ram air intake system. However, sitting there in Park, reving it up the BLM's would go to 120-122 (constant 3,000 RPMish rang;steady reving) Now, I don't have readings Before the intake i made, BUT. if the intake was restricing it, then why at a higher RPM it be better condition? Also- the car starts GREAT, Idles GREAT, and HAULS ASSSSS. I made a ram air system throught the front "corvette" plate, and ran two 2.5" flex ducting to the holes i drilled in the plate. i then used sheet metal and rivets and RTV to seal off the STock air lid so hot air wouldn't get it. This way all the air it's sucking in is directly from the two 2.5" holes in the front "corvette" plate. I honestly think the BLM problem is a tuning problem. ( I do have a custom chip, and larger injectors)

The 108-110 BLM's are probably just a rich VE value at idle. The BLM have different block through load (map) and rpm range. I think 730 are 16x16 BLM table (256 entries)

What are you running for fuel pressure? Mine was pegged at 108 BLM value. I then found out i was running 50psi w/hose off. Yikes. Changed that to 38psi and my BLM came to 126 at idle and at most cruise situations also.

well, i have a Accel AFPR. With the vacum hose off, 46psi. That's as low as i can get it too. I think the fuel guage i have is a POS.

How do you look at part throttle?

If rich across the board, increase injector constant by 5-6%.
If just rich at idle, adjust VE tables.

I'd doublecheck it with another gauge then. I have a holley AFPR and the highest I can go is about 52psi.

I'm having trouble with my pocket programmer "reading" my memcal. For some reason i'm getting a blank reading. SO when I open it in CATs, it's all empty. Greg Floyd worked with me on that. Now if i could just get a chip reading, then i could preprogram this bad boy to run smooth as a fiddle.

I assume you have a cable header that plugs into the prom and then you place that in the pocket programmer, yes?

It's possible your O2 sensor is getting too cold at idle; check it out on your scanner.

See if the ECM is staying in closed loop at idle.

89's 6E code doesn't use VE tables. If you need to adjust idle you can use the battey volatge correction table. If rich across the board use the injector constant.

Did you ever swap a different camshaft in? Still have functioning EGR? Purge system/charcoal canister hooked up correctly?

Those things could all have a rich condition effect on a speed density setup if used with a stock chip setup. BTW, what kind of chip are you using? You said it is custom and keeps showing up as blank. FWIR, some of the bigger name tuners will either shift table locations or do a few other things to keep you from reading a chip correctly. Good luck, -Matt

dgoodhue-

You are correct, the '89 code doesn't have VE tables, but he said in his first post the car is an '89 with a speed density swap, therefore, he does have VE tables.

I just wanna sell the car. It drives fine. I just want a 4x4!!!!!!!!! DAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm done with Vettes.

GOOD NEWS. Got my programmer to work. The idiot that i got my MEMCAL from used to de-solder them and one of the legs was half butt broke. So one of the Memcals arms was not making contact...I even checked it with the VoltMeter using Continuity!! and the car still ran?? WTF. Either way.... I knew that bastard screwed me. I soldered it back, BADA BING!!!!!!!
oh, and a HUGE HUGE Thanks goes out to GFloyd!!!! for helping out. !!!
I got my injector constant set to 25.1 b/c i used a fuel rate calc.
