Default Fuel pressure at high RPMS

With a gauge hooked on the valve I turned the key to ON ,35PSI Then I started the engine 30PSI ,Then I gave it some throttle,When the car hit 3000/3500 I could see a slight drop in pressure then when I let go of the throttle lever it shot down to 20PSI then shot right back up to 30PSI This al was done with the regulator vaccuum connected. Sound normal or time for a new pump?

To test fuel pressure, disconnect and plug the vacuum line and take the reading at idle; then shut off the engine and see how long it takes to bleed off pressure.

What year is your L98?
