Default Cooling System problems. '96 LT4 Help! (longish)

Hey guys, my problem is kind of strange. There is a substantial difference in the two water temp readings. The digital gage shows normal temps(200 * ), but the analog gage will get up to approx 260++ . the only change before this, was replacing radiator hoses. Maybe there's a blockage somewhere. I have replaced and tested the t-stat, replace sensors, and used an infrared thermometer. Thermometer shows approx 200* at the w-pump, but aimed at either head, it shows 260 or more. I'm guessing there's a blockage, or the w-pump is not spinning fast enough. It's a meziere instllalled in Feb. I had no problem until after the rad hose replacement...
HMMM any ideas???

TIA :smash:

How about air pockets in the system?

I was kinda thinking that too. (air pockets) I may drain it, flush, and refill.(in my spare time ;) ) I bled the system like I always do. I'm still not sure.

Nope, No track right now. I have so much stuff going on, it's crazy. let's go grab a beer one night.

Normally, the digital temperature readout should read higher than the analog gauge because the coolant from the radiator goes to the heads first (the analog gauge is in the head). Then, the coolant picks up heat from the engine before it exits past the digital temperature sensor, which is in the "exit" side of the water pump.

Since you have confirmed the readings with the infrared sensor, sounds like the gauges are accurate. So, my guess is the coolant is not circulating -- water pump?????.

Good thoughts. It's an electric pump, and I do hear it spinning. Also, I can see coolant circulating if i remove the cap... Maybe teh pump isn't circulating enough coolant.
