I read on an earlier post about a switch on the ALDL connector between pins A and F and was wondering how it works and how you use it and will it work on 91 transmission

I read that too and just tried it yesterday. It does work, only in 2nd or higher gear. It actually feels pretty good. At low speeds it doesn't have the torque mulipling effect, but if your hammering it the shifts feel good and it pulls back more then usual (feels more like a manual). Other thing is when you hit the break it normally unlocks the converter, but with A-F hotwired it reengages once you let go. I'm going to try it next time I autoX on Sunday.
they're talking about locking in the torque converter manually. its an old racers trick. it'll give you a couple more mph in the quarter. be forewarned though. this will burn up the clutch material in the stock converter.

Why not just change the force lockup setting in the chip?
Stock is 90Mph at WOT, set it to like 40 and it'll be locked mid 2nd/3/OD throughout a 1/4m pass.

Well if you drive on the street you really don't want it locking up so early. So a simple paperclip between A & F and your set, just take it out once your done.

Hmm, how much burn up are we talking? I thought once you hit the TCC lockup point (42mph on my chip) it always stayed locked, until you went below that speed point or braked. Does it disengage when you WOT and the transmission downshifts?
I too read that article. I'm VERY interested in this. the TPI is a torque motor too, so maybe it will take advantage of it. I'm doing my own chips, so i can have a ton of chips set up for street, track, economy... etc. But I do have one question about this torque converter business. When you jump A to F. Do you shift it manually or stick it in drive? I usally drop it in 1st, then manually shift all the gears at the track. How should we do this???
