I've replaced the gears, and still giving me problems.
Upgrade kit to '88 models. So expensive.

You need to measure the voltage at the motor. When you turn the lights on, does the motor get voltage?

If yes, problem is in the motor.

If no, problem is relay, switch, or wiring.

The motor will close under its own power but you have to open it by hand first with the light switch on, if the lights are turned off it will not let you raise the headlight :banghead:

First measure the voltage on the white/blk (neg) to green/wh (positive) wire with the headlights on. No voltage, then its a relay or wire connection. If volts is ok, then fighting opening with the headlights on and won't open can be due to the reversing contacts inside the motor not making. You can open the motor and see that the contacts are eroded so bad they don't make connection.

Switch the wires from the left relay to the right relay & see if the problem goes to the other headlight.
Then you will know if its a relay or a motor.

Make sure the door is not hitting the plastic cover that covers the lamp assy.
Last week I pulled my assy. three times before I realized the above mentioned was my problem.
