Has anyone done any cylinder head porting? Hand or CNC? I've got my engine apart right now and am considering some additional head work. I thought about gasket matching the ports. Has anyone done any of this and what kind of results have you gotten?
Pocket porting & working the Al #113 heads is worth about 25chp; you should also get nice gains from your Al heads.
If you intend to do your own porting get one of David Vizard's books on SBCs.
Of the job also includes larger hi-flow valves, mulit-angle valve job, cleaning up the combustion chamber and such. And of course you top it off with a nice set of RRs to compliment your new cam.
Since the engine is apart, now's the time to do heads, cam, lifters and such.
Thanks, I'll be sure to get one of those books. I'm trying to decide how much to put in this engine. I'm already changing the cam and going to bore the block. I think I'm gonna put a steel crank in as well.
