Hi!
I'm 1995 corvette owner from Croatia(Europe), and I'd be very grateful if somebody can help me!
I have some problems with my cd-player.
The problem is that when my car stays for a few days in the garage and then I try to put the cd in the cd player it won't take it and if it takes it it won't play the music.
After about 30 or more minutes of driving the car I try to put the cd on again and then it starts to play normally.
What could be the problem and how could I avoid this happening? :(
I had a similar problem, apparently this is common on our BOSE units. I took the unit out and shipped it to Factory Car Stereo Repair in Florida and they replaced the CD player for about $200. I kept the original unit and now it sounds like new. They have a great website at http://www.carstereohelp.com or call at 407-327-5053. Maybe they can help. Good Luck.
I had the same symptoms and it is an easy fix for a professional such as Dr. Don's. I think it has something to do with bad electrolytic capacitors but you need to know which ones.
Same problem here, about two years ago. I replaced it with a Kenwood DPX-600. It fits perfectly and looks pretty cool. In order to keep the Bose speakers, I had to install a Soundgate adapter that reduces the signal from the receiver.

Had similar issues with the CD player in my 91. Would not play untill the interior temp reached X degrees. Then x+4. Then x+10. Finally just quit. I found a forum member who had just a player out of a 94 for sale. Did the swap (royal PITA) and so far so good. When this one goes, so does the Bose.
I will try to get all the information I have together this weekend. I still have all the boxes and receipts somewhere in the garage. Check back here Sat or Sun.
'Quote: Why bother with the BOSE when you can get something better aftermarket'
If you guys are all about the unmatching looks of an aftermarket radio, then go for it.
I personally like the orange lettered Bose unit that matches the rest of my interior, and also the speed sensitive volume effect.
I plan on sending my amps to Dr. Dons and having them rebuilt. I think the Bose loses sound quality/volume after awhile due to these electronic components wearing out.
The bottom line is since this is a Corvette, I like to keep my interior looking as orignal as possible.
I also had to repair my unit in my 94.It's very common everytime I see a used Vette at a lot or I know of someone looking to buy chances are the cd player is screwed, only problem is sometimes you don't get your cd back. :cuss
My CD player has random static. It will be playing fine, and all of a sudden the song is filled with static, I can go to the next song, go back, and the same spot in the song that I was on is fine. It also spits out CD's all the time and I have to put them back in.
The part number for the Soundgate unit is GMB1. It replaces the Bose reciever that is stored in the same compartment as the tire jack (behind the passenger seat). I can't find a part number for the stereo, but the model is Kenwood DPX-600. I think they still make it. To do the install, you'll need to run new wiring from the dash to the rear compartment ( I also left the bose wiring in place in case I ever need to put the original equipment back in). There's plenty of room to run the wires under the center console on the passenger side. The wiring then has to run under the carpeting and through a 2 inch hole behind the passenger seat. If you remove the passenger seat, it's pretty easy.
