Need some advice on refinishing and repainting the interior shifter console on my 96 CE LT4 ZF6. The console is looking pretty shabby as the "dulso" finish is starting to peel off and fray around the edge of the "flip top" cover for the cup holders. I see that Eckler's wants $300 for a replacement! :cry
So, I've read the "tech tip" on interior plastic refinishing and I think I can do the job just fine - the problem is I am unsure of exactly what product is an exact match for the flat, dull black interior color. The tech tip refers to this as "dulso", but I cannot find a product marketed by that name, including at GM. Eckler's and others sell "interior" paint for refinishing dashes, etc, but they are vague about the color and surface appearance matching the stock "dull black".
Has anybody done a console refinishing job and can they steer me in the right direction on this?
As always, any advice, yarns, experiences, info is greatly valued and appreciated.
Used Eckers interior dash refinish... came out very close to origional, except that origional was worn, so ended up doing all dashes... came out good...then a month later, did rosewood dash install...
Im not sure if this relates but Krylon has a whole line of special plastic paints. go to their website and check it out. maybe just what you are looking for.
