Exhaust system
I have an 88 Vette....
I drew a picture of my mental imagine of my car's exhaust system..
is this correct? and is a cat back exaust system just the rear Y pipe and the mufflers?

That's a good drawing! Except...before and after the cat, it's a single pipe...the cat isn't dual in/out. Only single :) Here's a pic of a L98 Cat-Back System: (Which I highly recommend)

So I guess this is what people meen by our Exhaust systems not being true dual exhaust, we would need two CAT with two seperate pipes or woudl need two entry's in 1 CAT and 2 Exits.

What's the advantage of the Cat Back system?
I know that it sounds cool, but is there a noticible performance difference??

You would notice a difference at the track, but its unlikely your butt can really feel 10hp

hey guys,
My pre-cats on the car were gutted out yesterday, the one on the passenger side broke and instead of having them replaced the mechanic just gutted them out.
The sound comming out of the exaust is deffinatly deeper.
Did this add a bit of HP? I figure it must have since the front Y pipe must be flowing a lot easier.
About how much? 2 3 5 10 hp??
