Default Engine break in / tune dilemma

Here's the problem (maybe)

I just got my engine back from the machine shop, and for a good break in my builder strongly recommends that you fire it up, keep the RPMs over 2000 at all times, top off the coolant, check for leaks, and drive the car as soon as possible, don't beat on it, just vary the RPMs between 2000 and 3500, drive for 30 minutes.

No problem here except my ECM still thinks its a stock engine (see the mods below), and I'm afraid that the A/F mixture might be lean until the ecm goes closed loop, creating a bunch of heat.

My car/engine:

1990 L98 3.33 gears
Open lid/K&N
TPIS 52mm throttle body
Ported plenum
TPIS large tube runners
TPIS big mouth intake
Pocket ported and polished 113 heads
Stock Injectors
AFPR
TPIS ZZ-9 cam
Comp Cams 1.6 Pro Magnum Roller Rockers
TPIS coated headers
Random Tech converter
Flowmaster mufflers

I don't want to buy a pre programmed PROM, because of the price and the hit and miss nature of someone else trying to guess what's right for a given combination. I would rather use that money to start scanning and tuning myself.

any advice?

Since you have stock injectors you should be able to get away with breaking teh motor in with stock injectors, your idle might be a little lumpy with the cam and additional airflow.
