I was checking the bank of LARGE fuses near the master cylinder in the vert. The 20 amp fuse for the air pump was blown. Went over to the coupe and the same fuse was blown. Is this fuse for the air pump for emissions? If that air pump is not working wouldn't a code be set and or check engine light? What would cause this fuse to blow? Anyone else ever have any issues with this?
My 96 will throw a light and code though...guessing OBD II is more finicky-I remember the older LT1 Camaros not having any codes thrown when they remove their airpump.
I replaced the fuse to have it blow again. I investigated the pump and it is siezed. A new one is little over 110 bucks from Jeff May.
The air pump only runs just after start up for a few minutes and then off for rest of operation. Just to heat the cats up.
