Recently, whenever i let my vette sit for over 4 hours, a varying amount of blue smoke will appear on startup. I was wondering if anybody knows where i should start looking in order to resolve the problem. Thanks
I just traded for mine and it's doing the same thing, I think it's the valve seals are bad, my heads are coming off tommorow, and will have new seals installed
Yep, you got the old small block chevy 100,000 mile valve seal "blues". I just finished changing my seals (heads on the car) for the same reason. It fixed the problem but it is a PITA to do. New Valve seals will usually fix this if the guides are not excessively worn. Be sure to use a good quality seal material such as Viton and don't forget the o-rings under the retainers. Roller rocker go a long way towards reducing valve guide wear.
synthetic oil leaked past my seals where dino oil didnt. this wasn't my vette and i didn't own it until it was well used. moral of the story is, dont wait to use synthetic till its half worn out, too late by then.
