You could run a can of GM's Top Cleaner through it. It might clean it up enough to keep the ECM from coding out. It's a lot easier than pulling the intake to have it tanked. Just a thought.
I took my car to the shop ( mistake) and they missed the egr temp switch.
Mine was closed so the check engine light would come on when cold.
If you're doing this yourself watch for build up underneath the egr.
It could affect the cylinder beneath it. It did in my case so I ended up
replacing intake man gaskets and cleaned in there the best I could..
And definitely spring the 70 or so bucks for a new egr and just do it once...
I am assuming tthis is an earlier C4 BTW....
Yes I replaced the switch but that didn't solve the problem, I can tell the egr is opening. Sorta eliminated everthing but a plugged manifold.
thanks for replies
I removed the air tube to install a new blanket by unscrewing and removing the temp sensor. When it was back together I had a code 32. I backed of the temp sensor a couple of turns and the code was gone. Sounds strange, but you may want to play with the position of the sensor, it's easy to try.
