I am most likely going to do a C5 brake upgrade on my 94 LT1 this winter. I realize that the C5 rotors are good, however I would like to substitute a drilled rotor for looks. What would be a good rotor to use. I would also want these rotors for the rear as well. I will not be upgrading the rear calipers so these rotors would need to be the same size as the stock rear rotors.
I am also most likely going to use the stock C5 caliper(the grey one) and not the Z06(red) caliper. What can I do to make the stock rear caliper match the front C5 caliper. I would be willing to replace the rear caliper with a grand sport caliper if that is a better match.
Talk to Chris May At Superior Chevy 1-800-728-8267. I believe G.M. sells a drilled rotor for the C5's, perhaps for the stock C4 rears as well, don't quote me, talk to Chris, he'll know for sure.
if you want to stop, want it to look good, then that is the real solution...
And what kit is it that they offer for the C4 that fits under 17" wheels?
I don't think they do. You need ZR/GS OEMs or aftermarket 17" wheels or switch out to C5 wheels.....but I might be wrong.
GM makes a durastop brand of rotor now that is rather pricey but might suit your needs. Thanks to Ed Salinas's C5 adapter I will be doing the C5 upgrade as well. I'm not willing to spend $2000+ for brakes just because I autoX, but $700 is much more manageable for me and new pads/rotors aren't going to cost $500 a set either. I realize that the C5 brakes aren't the best, but they are better then my old J55's.
