Injectors Fuel Pump etc. Water??
I changed the injectors, FPR, still fuel pressure dropped at initial start. I had replaced the fuel pump when I first had the stating problem, along with wires, plugs cap etc. but I used an "almost new" one bought from from a Forum member. ( Word to the wise used stuff can not always be trusted) At 112k miles changing some items like pumps and injectors might be a good idea anyway.
I then changed the fuel pump again. That was the problem. The car seems fine, pressure holding, running well.
I put the Ford 21# fuel injectors in I will report back the results.
I did find something very interesting. My car is an '86 with 112k miles, while I had the fuel pump out I looked into the tank with a flashlight at the bottom I saw what appeared to be stuff floating about an inch or two off the bottom, sorta like suspended there. I used some brake line with a clear hose and siphoned out about a quart of water from the tank. The gas was floating on top.
I have this car about two years. I have experienced some hesitation when I have nailed it, so I assumed I was experiencing a pickup problem when the fuel moved to the rear, I tried to keep the tank above 1/2 full. I guess it was just picking up some water.
This might be a maintenance item item to be aware of.
Barrier :) :)
Most of the time I found that the drain tube for the filler compartment was clogged and it fills up when it rains. Then it gets sucked in through the filler cap.
I would check that hose and blow it out.
Few people are aware that when you buy gas a retailer is not allowed to pump for 10 minutes after a delivery.( at least in NY). The sudden drop of 3000 gallons in an underground tank tends to stir up dirt and water from the bottom (so called DEAD area that cannot be pumped due to distance from the bottom of the tank to the pickup, that cannot be pumped). Periodically gas stations will pump out this stuff.
