Can I still drive if....

Can I still drive my vette without a upper alternator bracket? Its a 85. Or would that damage something?

Don't see why not as long as the alternator is still being held steady with the other bolt. I would replace as soon as possible however.

I agree with FX GS, but I would replace ASAP.

:iagree: to some extent. Remember there is a lot of torque forces on that bracket. You may snap the lower one without the upper one in place. I wouldnt take the chance. :yesnod:

Why take the chance? the longer you run it that way the more likely the lower will break. :iagree:

Mine was broken, ran for a day then replaced... noticed pressure on the serp belt... and if she breaks the the alt flies, a lot more damage you could have.

If you can't get a bracket soon enough, at least make something out of a turnbuckle and 2 eyebolts to help temporarily.

So I replaced the air pump in my 89 c4, and now the bracket doesnt fit. The gap between the 2 bolts is a centimeter to short. I reinstalled the air pump 3 times and im certain it isnt the air pumps positioning. I even tried connecting the bracket and then connecting the air pump but then the air pump wouldn't connect. I made shure it was the same size as the old one. Does anyone know anything about this?
