whenever i get over 3000 rpms, my 86 starts missing really bad. it won't shift or nothing. it acts like it is about to die, until you let off of the throttle. i thought it might be the msd, so i unhooked it and resorted back to the factory ignition. it still done it. i then replaced the coil. that didn't do it either.
i thought maybe the fuel pump could be going bad? it hums really loud. the only thing is, i just replaced it and the fuel filter a month ago. i'm going to check the fuel pressure tomorrow. could it be the fuel pressure regulator?
Re: 86 missing at high rpms...fuel pump? (69vetteracer)
ok well using a fuel guage, i found out that when you give it a lot of gas and it starts missing, the fuel pressure drops from 40 something to 20. but keep it under 3000 rpm's and fuel pressure is in the 40's. do you guys think it is the fuel pump, or the regulator?
yeah i replaced it with the fuel pump about a month ago. could it be i just got a bad fuel pump? it has a lifetime warranty, and no longer than it takes to get it out, i think i will and go exchange it for another one. hopefully that will do the trick
