Adjustable fuel regulator. Easy install? Do I need it?
1st- Will putting in an adjustable fuel regulator be of any benefit in my 86 vette? If so, how easy is it to install & how do I know what "adjustments" to make? Do they sell them for an 86 vette? Via Summit, MAD, etc?

You really don't need it at this point since you don't have the other items that would warrant one at this time. But, if you do have plans for the intake, heads, cam, headers down the line you can get it and just make sure you keep running the stock pressure. I bought mine from Jegs, but I'm LT1. Yours should be cheaper. Just shop it around. Free calls to all parties anyway.

:iagree:
I got mine through Breathless Performance Parts. I would get other mods 1st though. You need to make it breath better before you add more fuel.

This guy seemed to think an AFPR was good for his L98 with little mods: http://www.geocities.com/lucasjames007/l98.html
Not sure what it means though, he also thought his air foil was a "good investment" :skep: Some people here say yes on it with light mods, others say no

I have a 94, 6 speed, with a K& N open face, and the adjustable fuel regulator. I set it at 42psi at idle and it will bump to 48. Although I do not have any serious modifications I can tell a big difference in performance between the adjustable and the stock. The stock is set at 36 and bumps to about 38. It is very easy to install, but do it on a cold engine and put a rag under the fuel regulator because a little fuel will leak out when it is removed.

The install is pretty easy, on my '89 all I had to do was unscrew the 4 bolts on either side of the upper plenum, unplug the 2 vacuum lines, and unscrew the hard line that went to the brake booster. Then I unclipped the MAF from the front duct and just kinda lifted the plenum up and towards the front of the car for clearance. 6 little bolts hold the old fuel pressure regulator cap in place, they are the tamperproof torx type with the little thing sticking up inside of them. Make sure to bleed the pressure from you system first, letting it sit overnight may be good enough. The Holley one is the one most people seem to like, it is around $80 from Summit or Jegs. I have no idea if you need it or not, probably not if your car is stock.
