Re: DO Throttle Body 'AIRFOILS' make a difference? (smacko)
The DO have a 'weight reduction gain' benefit
They cause your wallet to be a little lighter. That'll give you a little performance gain.
Yes I DO have one. Put it on and couldn't tell a BIT of difference.
I didn't have the instrumentation to measure and quantify the 'weight reduction gain'.
As someone else said, it sure did LOOK good. Only problem is I couldn't SEE it anymore as soon as I reinstalled the air input hose.

Hi.
I think there are much misunderstanding about this.
If you put one airfoil on a stock car the ndifference is not very much, hardly recognizable.
You have to mod your engine so that the limitation for more air in to the engine is the throttlebody without airfoil. If you then install the airfoil you will gain about 11 hp as they say. Allother factors limiting the airflow in to the engine will make the airfoil difference less and less.

People have done this and still gained nothing :nonod: Do a search.

But that is given that the airfoil does ANYTHING AT ALL. Does it really improve or increase airflow into the engine??? Doubt it. Even IF it does, it would be so minute that it wouldn't make a difference in ANY engine. IMHO (and proven on Horsepower TV just a few weeks ago), it does absolutely nothing.
But we all know the saying: If you THINK your mod works, then it was money well spent.

OK....
I wish I could get as much response from my fuel pressure questions as this airfoil question always does.
BIG JIM
I never got interested in playing with the fuel pressure, because the ECM will just alter the pattern anyway......when I switched to the 24lb SVO injectors, I just made sure the injectors were working around a 90% duty cycle, which the stock pressure allowed.... and ya, still sad I wasted money on that stupid foil, but at least it looks pretty.
Re: DO Throttle Body 'AIRFOILS' make a difference? (tuband)
i installed an air foil with some other intake goodies. they seemed to free up the engine in the upper rpm range around 5500-6300. before i put the mods on, K&N filter open air lid, granitelli MAF, T-body coolant bypass and relocated the IAT sensor, and air foil. the air foil i installed last and noticed the engine free up just a little. nothing huge but noticable. i now bounce off the rev limiter before the traps rather than while going through the traps. like i said nothing crazy, but noticable at the track. :steering: :auto:
