Has anyone taken the runners and put Helicoils in the upper clearance bolt holes,,,, so you can put flat heads into the plenum box to hold the box to the runners?
My superram runners have the inner large 4 holes tapped and I install the 4 big bolts from the top inside the plenum. Red loctite and lockwashers. :yesnod:
The ones around the perimeter I think are too close to the plenum walls to be easily doable.

That is how I have mine set up. Very easy to take on and off that way.
I would be VERY careful about doing this unless you absolutely need to for other reasons. I check my bolts a pretty regular basis, and they are sometimes a little loose. If they were to work there way loose, you know where they are going if installed on the inside. :cry
If I "HAD" to install them on the inside, you can bet they would be wired together to one another. This poses the next problem, airflow restriction and probably more of a PITA than just using the bolts the way they were intended. If you do the slot trick, etc. They are not at all hard to install.
Just my opinion, and the way I would look at the little time savings its going to make. Not to mention the added time your going to spend anyways, installing the helicoils, $ on them, etc.
Thanks guys, the horror stories on the SR install haunt my thoughts! I will go with the stock SR setup on the first go around and since I do not have the unit in my hands yet I wont know for sure what can be done.
I am sure there will be more questions when the unit gets here.
I did what Scorp did. I used the old plenum torq bolts which are fairly flat and curved so i dont think they disrupt flow that much. I use red locktite and have them wired.
