Well i have a 93 auto, daily driver, with very few mods and 53K miles. I am considering to s/c it. On to the questions.
What company do you guys recommend? How much will i have to spend? What else will i have to buy and change? How hard is it to install? How streetable is it?
Any of these sound good; where can i get better prices?
Procharger
1992-96 1GF211-08I HO INTERCOOLED WITH P600B 8 PSI 55-60% 2 CORE $3,945
1992-96 1GF211-SCI HO INTERCOOLED WITH P-1SC 8 PSI 55-60% 2 CORE $4,165
Re: Considering supercharging, real dummy need help (polishdevil)
i would recommend 1992-96 1GF211-D1 SERPENTINE RACE KIT WITH D-1SC CALL CALL 2 CORE $4,165
that is a nice kit and i drive mine everyday and just depending what you plan on doing later with the car is really how you have to look at it? do you ever plan on rebuilding the motor for more power? You will have to do some fine tuning and it can be a pain in the neck but when everything is said and done it is worth it i think? I do like vortech kits but they seem pretty pricey :(
Re: Considering supercharging, real dummy need help (vvv90)
I'm in college, 19 y/o, don't have much to spend, so the car would stay like this for a few years. I was thinking gears, or tc, but i have a dana36 with the 2.59 and that would cost me almost as much as the s/c. The car only has 53K miles on it and unless something goes wrong, no rebuild in sight.
Re: Considering supercharging, real dummy need help (polishdevil)
I'm also not particularly looking to buy a vortech or a procharger, those are the 2 i found to fit the car, let me know what else is out there and whats available.
Re: Considering supercharging, real dummy need help (polishdevil)
Unless you go paxton, those are your only options. Both Vortech and Procharger make race proven units. They're fine. (besides, paxton doesn't make a kit for LT-1's)
From what you're saying, I wouldn't consider any other kit than one of the http://www.carrollsupercharging.com (aka blowerworks) Their kits are custom and use Vortech units. Vortech units provide more options for custom belt configurations over Prochager too. Also, the Carroll kits are COMPLETE! meaning, everything you actually NEED, not just what will get you going. From what I see Carroll kits are the most reliable for a stock LT-1 bottom end period!
Now listen closely. The Carroll kits are more expensive but that's because they come with the aftermarket parts you're going to have to buy for the stock vortech or procharger kits anyway, so the price is competitive.
