Default Problem with HighBeam Switch !

Fellow Forum Members:
Was driving my 93 on a very dark road the other day and went to kick on the high beams and discovered that they wouldn't stay on. They work fine, but it seems that the detent is broken or something. Its the same switch as the turn signals, and cruise controls and knowing the GM boys it sure to be expensive to replace.
My question is,has anyone out there ever replace their "turn signal/cruise/ high beam switch ? If so how much of a pain in the A-- would it be for a novice mechanic to handle ? Looks like I would have to take the steering wheel, air bag off and then try and get to the screws holding the switch in place . How hard is it to work with the wiring, and where is the contector plug located ? Also, where have you found the best price for a replacement ?
Thanks, seeing as its almost winter here , this could be a long term winter project, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Default Re: Problem with HighBeam Switch ! (Bob Lapine)

When I bought my 93, the high beam switch was loose. This problem allowed me to go to high beams only when the steering wheel was all the way up. As soon as you tilted it down even one notch, the high beams would not lock on. The dealership and I split the cost of labor to tighten it. It was 1 1/2 hours in labor to do that. Hope that helps some.
