Problems with 88 security system
Can anyone help? Have a problem with the anti theft system of my 88 C4. When the key is removed from the ignition and the door locked the security light continues to flash instead of going out, it also stays solid if the alarm is activated. The car is only used occassionally and after 3 weeks the battery is completely drained. Has anyone come across this before and if so how did you solve it? Many thanks for your help.

Do a search for "VATS" and you'll probably find something.
I don't know much about it, but it sounds like the VATS module might be causing it. I think its a little black box plugged in somewhere under the dash. Your key and ignition switch are also tied into the system, however I doubt they are the culprits. If that was the case the car more than likely wouldn't start.
