First off - 91 L98, auto trans, stock except for 21# ford injectors, AFPR, missing frisbee, TB bypass. 114,000 miles.
Coming home tonite jumped on the gas in 1st, tach at 3900-4200, engine cuts out and the red battery dash light comes on, RPM's go down to 3300-3500, light quits, engine kicks back in just as strong in 2nd. No room to get back on in 2nd.
New Gator belt on Sunday and tension seems fine, alt. is 2 1/2 years old and pushing 13.8-14.2 amps and 12+ volts. Battery is 1 year old.
Need to find this prob. real soon 'cause I want to try autox on Saturday morning.
HELP!
Thanks-
Subman
Strick - all connections seem to be good, those that I can see and get to. I did not check for heat in the alt. but will try in the morning after I get to work.
If the belt was not new, I would think it was slipping. But the Gator appears pretty agressive on bite for all the pulleys. Hopefully, someone has had this problem before and has the "magic" K.I.S.S. answer.
(boy, this forum switch is a pain in the pooper)
Checked battery and alt voltage last night - battery alone -12.2 volts, alt output 14.3 volts. Could not check amps as my meter wouldn't work.
Could there be some kind of electronic rev limiter that cuts the power close to redline?
Plugs, cap, rotor, wires & pick up coil all replaced 3-4 months ago. Am changing the plugs this week anyway for autox on Sat. May change out cap and rotor too, just to be safe. Am using AC #5's now. Should I go up to a slightly hotter plug with the add'l fuel from the 21# injectors & running 43#'s FP?
