Re: Can a optispark be inspected if bad or good? (blk95)
There is no way to tell. Usually a replaced Opti will be pretty clean, an old one will be dirty. You could pull it off and inspect it, but for the amount of work involved you may as well put a new one on. Are you having problems with your car?

Just wondering i've never changed it before, because i've bought it used, Is there a visual indication that the opti has not been changed before?

No not that I am aware of. Most reman units can have a cast metal or some other nasty looking back plate, whereas the originals had machined aluminum from my experiences.
Maybe if it is surrounded in RTV. Factory didn't do that, but anybody else who knows the Opti probably would.

I don't know if its going or not because i'm experiencing small puffs of backfiring when hammering the gas and letting off the throttle which i've never noticed before. Is that normal? My dash light dimming out sometimes and the voltage is jumping up and down.
I did plugs and wires last year...Maybe i should do the opti soon.

I don't, but I can say they're offering significant improvements over the O.E.M. Opti and their claims are substantial.
It could very well be the LAST Opti you'll ever have to buy! I'm thinking about contacting them when mine finally goes kaput!

I did the DynaSpark Opti last month. Very straightforward. So far it has performed flawlessly. Fit and finish were perfect. I replaced the water pump at the same time, along with a bunch of other stuff at the same time. By far, the easiest component I replaced was the Opti.
