Thanks to all of you experts and technical people on the Forum who gave me assistance.
A month ago a Wrecker driver broke my differential housing by hooking my Vette up incorrectly on a rollback ..
Their Insurance paid almost $3,000 for the repairs which are now complete.
I found all the information and suggestions you provided very very helpful and was able to provide it to my mechanic. I kept the same 2:59 gear since that was on my original build sheet..Yesterday I used a portable radar gun and checked my speedometer at 85,75,65,and 55 and found it only 1 mph off at all speeds..I am finally riding again..
So thanks again to all of you and the Corvette Forum
Stay safe
Rick
I don't know..The entire rear end assembly including the rear spring, axels, etc. were replaced as a unit..It was from a totaled 1988 with supposedly only 5,000 "documented" original miles. It came from Tom Payne at Corvette Masters in Va. Beach, Va. I have known him for years and trust him..It seeems fine.. They did change the differential fluid and put in the Corvette additive..Many of you suggested the 3:07 but, I liked to keep it as it was with the 2:59.
I have only driven it 2,700 miles since June of 2001 anyway..
