Default Battery purchase suggestions

Any batteries that you would recommend for a daily driver? Also, any places you recommend buying them?

Edit: Are there any problems that could arise with installing the battery myself? And, lastly, how are you supposed to get rid of old batteries?

TIA!

Try to stay with a sealed battery. In a pinch, I've put non-sealed (Exide Brand) in some of my other cars and they've all leaked out of the caps. One I was able to salvage by removing the tray and refinishing it. The other was more extensive so I made a claim through the discount chain that sold it and I can't tell who cut the check (store or manufacturer) on the claim.

Many of the CF members here seem to like the Red Optima battery. About 3 months ago I put in a Sears Diehard Gold. Installation is easy, consult your owners manual, took me about 20 minutes total. Sears took my old battery, and other places have done that as well. I'm sure if you approached a gas station they would be happy to take your old battery as well.
