Hi, I am wondering what to do next to my car (88 automatic with 3.04 rear). I now have TB Bypass, K&N with cut lid, TB Airfoil, Ported Plenum, 180 degree stat., Frisbee removed, Pre-cats removed, High flow main cat, Magnaflow cat-back.
What would be estimated hp on my car and estimated 1/4 mile time?
What would be the next logical choice? I'm thinking 1.6 Roller rocker or TPIS runners.
Re: What to do next? How to gain performance? (jutammel)
NO GEARS ON THE L98! Dont add them until other stuff is done.
88 has what 240-250hp? You gained 10 for frisbee, probably ~15 from the exhaust stuff. ~5 for the K&N open lid, the rest is minimal.
Best thing at the moment, its a toss-up between the RR and Runners, both probably give approx the same HP on your setup, but i think i would do the RR first. Then intake manifold, cam change, or otherwise depending on long-term goals.

My long term plan is to go with Forced Air Intake (from license plate), 1.6 RollerRockers, TPIS runners and maybe TPIS headers. Dont know about TPIS Big Mouth manifold... I was thinking porting the base manifold when it comes to that. Cheaper that way ;) And a good cam of course. I have got advice that GM's ZZ3 might be a good cam with this setup?
But those Roller Rockers might just be my next purchase :) Driving season is almost over here so I have a long winter ahead of me. Perfect time for tuning the vette
:hurray:
Re: What to do next? How to gain performance? (jutammel)
Since you have a long winter for mods I suggest you consider doing (port, polish and work those #113s) heads (~25chp) & a good cam (~30chp).
If you do the ZZ-9 cam I suggest 1.54:1 ProMagnum RRs to keep valve lift close to .520" and allow you to still use single springs with dampers.
For a nice "free" mod to increase top end breathing you might consider doing the siamese intake base (see details on my site, link in sig. below). This would let you put the mods $$ into heads & cam, for now anyway. Later you could do the BM base & AS&M LT runners if you like.
Check out the results of L98 mods on my site to see what to expect from various mods to your engine.
Indeed, to enhance driving "pleasure" you should do a 2,000rpm TC and TransGo shift kit. This TC is still very tight for nice street manners yet gives a nice increase in launch torque. The lightning quick shifts from the shift kit will make your Vette shift like a real sports car and the wheel chirp on a hard 1-2 shift is part of the fun. After the above engine mods you will want to mod the A4 governor (B&M makes a nice kit) increase the WOT shift points to about 6,000rpm.

What does Torque Converter really do and where it is located?? Does Summit Racing have 2000rpm torque converter for my vette? Any info on the part number?
I Checked the TransGo inventory and this caught my eye:
700 82-93 2.8, 4.3, 5.0, 5.7 Camaro-Vette-TransAM Mini Van-Police-Taxis-Vans Truck including diesel and Pontiac V6 & V8 passenger Pro-Street or race with "class". Manually hold 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to any RPM. Manually downshift to any gear at any speed. Reduces 3-4 clutch and band failure. (Stick Shift Option Included). 16 pan bolts.TV cable is located on passenger side toward front of trans.
Re: What to do next? How to gain performance? (jutammel)
A TC is in the front of the transmission, just behind the engine. It works kinda like a clutch for the automatic, and when it locks, it transmits all the power thru the driveline.
