I was looking through some earlier threads (is that what the search is for) on others with the same problem of the CD player not giving the cd back and so forth. Many make mention of having theirs sent to "local" shops and repaired for around $200. Anyone know of someone in the Northern Calif area with that capability? Is R/R the Bose unit a pretty straight forward job?
Thanks

I'm not real comfortable with having the radio pulled and shipping it off out of state, but with his prices (1/2 of anyone here in Calif) I can't complain. Plus, I'll get him on the phone to talk about any concerns. Thanks to everyone with their suggestion.
Still, anyone know if pulling the unit is relatively easy? :chevy
Thanks for the link. Dr. Don sounds like a good source.
Is there anything that you can do yourself in terms of cleaning, using a cleaning disc, etc. that will reduce the problem of CD's that won't/are slow to eject? Or is the problem a worn/dried out part inside the unit?
the CD transport is a POS... it will simply fail. done, broken, outta here.
I tried cleaning... no help. there is nothing to clean.
removal is easy... in the top vent are 2 screws (if I remember rightly), remove'm... then the screw(s) behind the vent. you have to remove the gear shifter/cup holder/console piece... 2 screws, on the leading edge of the console, under the carpet there... a screw under one of the cup holder spots.
remove those, and the console cover will come out. then, remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the radio face...
there is a big spring clip next to the DIC that can be a pain to put back in.
the radio is held on by 4 9/32" screws... a GM fav!
Another vote for Dr. Don. Did my unit this summer - excellent, prompt service - works like new. Getting the unit in and out is no problem - Dr. Don has an explanation on the website. I got pretty good with moving mine - I can get it out in like 15 minutes now!
Good luck - you won't be sorry shipping it to a guy who knows what he is doing.

You CAN get your stock CD drive modded to accept CD-R's, too. Ask Dr. Dons about this feature!
