Default LTPWS

How do I know if I have the LRPWS. I don't think I do, it's a pretty base car and I have the spare on with no warning lights. But no one will touch the tires if you have the sensor.
Thanks.

Look at the rpo codes under your center console. If you have UJ6 it has them. Or like my car, the previous owner removed them.

find a real tire shop, and tell them to be careful.

I went to Bridgestone and they said that they would not touch them if they had the sensors. I thought they were a real tire shop. They guy was a jerk anyways. I don't know why service is so poor. Oh well. I will go somewhere else. Can I have the sensor removed, or do you have to have it removed at a dealer.

I agree, but he may be needing new tires. A competent repair shop will be needed so as not to break the sensors. When I picked up a slow leak after running over a nail two weeks ago, I ended up going to Big-O Tires.

They were the only shop in my neighborhood skilled enough to remove a tire with the LTPWS. They charged me $25 for the repair, but the peace of mind was priceless. :)

I don't see a reason to remove them, but even if you do its really easy. The sensors are just attached by a huge hose clamp around the inside of the wheel. Any shop should be able to handle that, right.

I don't necessarily want to remove them but I can't have my car down for very long. It is my daily driver. Granted I'm just a college student but I still need it to get around. I do want to keep it if possible but due to a lack of shops that do it and lack of money I may have to get rid of them. Does anybody know if Sears does them. That is the only competent place, considering Bridgestone won't do them.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Well there is no reason to remove the sensors if you are just getting new tires anyway. Whoever does the work just needs to be cognizant of the fact that they are there. All they have to do is not touch or disturb them.

Ok,
Looked at the RPO codes. No this was about as base as it can get. No LTPWS so I should have no problem getting the tires put on. That was helpful info so thanks for the advice. I found a page that explained every single code. It's ok though she won't be base by the time I'm finished adding what I want to add.

Thanks again,
Jonathan
