Running Temperatures
I have an 86 vert that I am rebuilding. I just rebuilt the motor - 30 over 9.5 to 1 JR pistons, balanced, ported polished heads with full port matching, HD Edelbrock water pump, 180 deg. thermostat, BBK TB, Edelbrock cam. When I first put the motor back in it ran at about 180-190 deg. regularly, sweet. Now all of a sudden it will run in the range for a while and then begin to creep up over 200+ deg. and I have a heck of a time getting it back down, especially in traffic. I have the main fan on manual switch but when I turn it on it doesn't affect the temp like it used to. I also checked the collant level; and it seems right. I have ordered and will be replacing the main fan motor and the auxiliary fan unit and installing a harness with temp. switch in the block soon. Has anybody had this situation and do you know of a fix. With those aluminum heads it makes me nervous when it gets over 200 degrees.
 :flag :chevy
