I do this for a living, damn. Crank, no start. Then busts off. New motor, good fire, 43 pbs. fuel pressure, of course new wires and plugs, new ECM, new module, no vaccum leaks, no check engine light, live in the south warm here, all temp. sensors replaced, cap and rotor replaced, when it fires seems mixture is not exact for a few seconds, then corrects and is fine, did the same damn thing when it was wore out. In the fuel system somewhere...I have heard they all did this...
1.. all connection to your distributor including hei coil to/from, check for carbon center contact to coil.
2.. the electronic module beneath the rotor
3.. there is a pick up coil just below the eletronic module plate (distributor) shaft must be remove to replace .. but can be tested in place
It would be a good idea to buy shop manual and or similiar repair book
