Previous posts I have read on this is that the AFS wheel weigh more than the factory wheels. How much more, I don't remember. AFS does have nice quality wheels. I have the Z06 rims on my 93. See sig.

I went from 17 x 8.5 and 17 x 9.5 to 17 x 9.5 and 17 x 11. Now granted the rims themselves are bigger so they should weigh more, but if I compare the similar sized rims.

The stock 9.5 sawblade with a Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 in the 285/40ZR17 size weighed in at 47 lbs, while the AFS black 5 spoke in the 9.5 with a Dunlop SP8000 in the 275/40ZR17 weighed 51 lbs.

Overall I gained 5 lbs per wheel in the switch for a total of 20 lbs which to me is unacceptable. Performance has suffered greatly. I'm on the hunt for a lighter wheel/tire combo so I can get my performance back.

Yeah, the increase in sprung weight is a little too much and since you got a smaller thread tire its even worst. Good luck on the next set

Hey Mojo - wouldn't a stroker overcome this? :yesnod:

I just got some AFS wheels - I'm a little disappointed to hear you can tell the diference in performance. I still think it will be an improvement over my 16-inch rims, though. And for $455 on Ebay, who am I to complain?

I run the AFS, never noticed any perforance loss from them. Unless you are a die hard track junky like Frank you will never notice a difference because of the few extra pounds.

AFS are heavier. The added weight has only a minimal affect.
