I have a kit car with 87 Corvette suspension. I need to know the torque spec on the nuts to the bolts that attach the upper A-arm (where the camber adjustment shims are located). Can anyone help me?
Re: I need torque spec on upper A-arm nuts (kellsdad)
You wont find it. The General didn't think anyone would want to replace them, so there's no torque call out anywhere. You can't buy the individual parts from G.M. It's sold as an assembly.
So, just make sure they're very tight.
EDIT: Use blue loctite, or red if you prefer........
SECOND EDIT: They're 30 mm nuts, in case you need to go buy a socket....
Re: I need torque spec on upper A-arm nuts (kellsdad)
My 1987 factory manual shows the torque as 48 FT LBS. These are the nuts that hold the upper control arm to the frame with the alignment shims. The large nuts on the forward and aft ends of the arm that hold the bushings in do not have a torque called out.
