Default How to access Emergency Flasher Unit??

I need to replace the emergency flasher module on my '90.

Checking the shop manual, I see that it is mounted on the right side of the radio cluster. Can I assume that I can access it by removing the passenger side dash kick panel (as opposed to removing the radio- yuck).

I couldn't find a part # in my literature, hope that its nothing out of the ordinary - I'd like to replace it with an electronic unit (ie: tridon EL12-C).

Thanks -

My '88 GM Shop Manual says the Hazard Flasher is behind the Center IP, so the center bezel & radio must be pulled.

Anyway you could drop the right hush panel and take a look, as that's a quicker operation.

Why must everything be a learning experience? (LOL)

I agree, the passenger Kick Panel is the correct route - but now I can't figure out how to remove it.

I removed the two bolts directly under the knee pad area. It now flexes in the middle, but is pinned against the heater duct outlet on the left and "something" on the right side. From the shop manual diagram, it looks like I need to remove a bolt or two from under the fuse block cover.

I've removed the two (on top and botton of the block), but am having trouble with the 3rd bolt that is flush by the lock mechanism - can't get a socket seated on the head, not enough clearance with the surrounding plastic.

Am I missing something - am I on the wrong track?
