Sound like the TV cable on the transmissions need to be reset. I'd look for the cable reset procedure which I've witnessed from Gordon Killebrew, its real simple. That should solve your transmission downshifting issues
The 700R/4 in a Corvette has a special 3-4 upshift sleeve that prevents downshifts at WOT. In fact putting the Corvette 3-4 upshift sleeve into the A4 in an F-body is a stardard upgrade to prevent downshifts at WOT.
Maybe someone did a rebuild or put an F-body A4 into your Vette.
You can try the TV cable adjustment but I don't think that's the answer here.
hmm, I had this problem and thought the 3-4 servo for the Corvettes would not allow 4th gear at WOT. Because when I had a nice long strech of road I got to 133 then it wanted to shift to 4th, but wouldn't until I let off the gas a little. Then if I put any more then about 2/3 throttle it would want to downshift to 3rd. Its a 85 Auto. I thought this was normal, and with a servo upgrade you could get it to hold WOT in 4th.
Would really like to know which is correct?
Well, Level-10 (performance tranny shop in NJ) sells the Corvette 3-4 servo as an "upgrade" part to allow upshifts at WOT.
I've had my Vette on the dyno and the TC will lock up around 120-130 in 3rd gear but don't know about 4th. So far I haven't had it up to that speed in OD on the dyno or highway.
All Corvette 4L60(E) will upshift from 3rd to 4th under WOT.
The same tranny in passenger cars will not!
Upshift from 3rd to 4th in my car occurs at 145 mph and I have tested it. See also the "Corvette Specs" book for upshift mph for all C4 years and models, axles.
