Default ECM Wont recognize chip in 1990

Ecm wont recognize my chip in my 90. Get the sys error when I put the burned one in. Switch them and all is normal again. Is htere a software package that scans and burns? I have the SPEP Plus, basically a copy of the pocket programmer.

Thanks
Doug

are you using a memcal adapter.. or did you solder in a socket.

You usually see the sys light when the ecm is having trouble talking to the chip.. I used to get a sys light all the time with my unsoldred / soldered in socket memcal. I then bought a new memcal and a Craig Moates memcal adapter and viola no more sys light.

Btw i use the SPEP programmer and i have burned dozens of chips with it..

What kind of chips are you using?
