Question regarding Drive vs Overdrive in 4L60E
Does the overdrive operate "on top of" the first three gears or is it just the fourth gear? In other words, if I have the gear selector in (D) rather than D, is the overdrive always engaged or just "available" as the fourth gear if needed? Thanks...

Unlike the 4+3 manual transmission, the overdrive in the 700R4, 4L60, and 4L60E, is a fourth gear. Any "shift" you may feel, or drop in rpms in other gears is due to the converter locking up. Good luck, and...
