I have 1.6:1 ProMagnums on 7/16" studs with hardened guides and Comp Cams P/N 7808-16 hardened push rods and stock '88 Vette hyd. roller cam.

These push rods are are 5/16" dia by 7.195" long. With them to rocker rollers seem to pretty much track across the center of the valve stem ends.

If by "size" you're referring to the length, as with most things, it depends.

Depends on what changes have been made to the heads/ head gaskets\camshaft\block deck, etc.

Changing the dimension of any of these can alter the required pushrod length.

Best thing to do is buy an inexpensive pushrod length checker. Several companies sell them for a few bucks. It'll come with directions for use and will allow you to see if the pushrods you're running are the correct length. If yours aren't, you can use feeler gauges to determine how much longer or shorter your pushrods need to be.

Unless you are having new pushrods custom made, the companies that sell them, like PAW/ JEGS, etc., have them in .050 increments on the shelf.

There are much more expensive (and more accurate) length checkers out there, but to me are unnecessary except for all out engine builds; 15/18 degree heads and stuff like that.

Hope this helps.

Jake

To have to measure this once you have everything assembled :nono:

Patients....Summit or Jegs has wide selections of lengths that will be readily available....or as I said...mine might also work, in which case we can work something out....DO NOT ASSUME that because a length worked for someone else, it will work for you. TOO many variable...heed the WARNING.

I am heeding (about like a bull in a china den :banghead: ), not to worry. no, i am going to get my hands on a rod length checker. I think i can borrow one from my neighbor, otherwise i will buy one outright - Summit catalog finally came today.

you were right, btw. call ARP, they know what they are talking about. I called a few different people for what head stud to go with, and the gal at ARP pretty much knows her stuff. I bombarded her with questions even worse then i did you

Im really getting ancy now. Had to park my vette last night. Now im driving my old bronco :U
