Default Torque convertor not parallel to flexplate

I am a little concerned that after I bolted up my trans to my new 383 the the bottom bolt mount of the TC was not touching the flexplate but the top bolt mount was. It's maybe off by 1/8 of an inch. The trans and converter are the stock units and were untouched when I yanked the engine and trans originally, but the block and flexplate are new to the car. Will everthing line up once I bolt the flexplate to the converter or should they be parellel before bolting them up. What can be causing this miss alignment. Bent flexplate???

Did you try pulling on the TC itself to see if it will align up?
Theres a bit of play in it to move back and forth to allow the bolts to align up.
Usually,I would get a bolt started, turn it in halfway, then turn the flexplate/TC over and start and other one until they all went in flush.
This may be what you need to do.Maybe this will help.
Let us know how it makes out.I dont think the flexplate could be bent that bad.Its a sturdy piece itself and would crack before it bent that far.

Yes, I did pull the converter foward until it contacted the flexplate. It looks like two of the bolt mounts on the TC touch but the third one does not. Should I start the bolts and see what happens???

As I read it, two things have been changed, here. The block and the flexplate. You could pull everything back apart and dial indicate the back of the block and the crank flange, to be sure they are square. You could exchange the flexplate for another, and see if the clearence still exists. OR you could consider the name of the item the converter bolts to. Good luck, and...

Is it possible I did not reinstall the TC correctly? I did take it off when I pulled the tranny originally. I will try to take pics later on tonight to maybe make things clearer.

Not to cause the problem you describe. When you install the converter on to the trans, you have to turn it and "jiggle it around. You should hear and feel it click, twice, as it goes on to the trans. Normally, if it isn't on all the way, the flexplate and the converter will interfer before the bellhousing and the block mate up. A correctly installed converter will have to be slid forward to touch the flexplate, once the engine and trans are properly bolted together. I hope my explaination was clear. I'll try again if you don't understand. Good luck, and...

I did have to slid the TC foward a little to touch the flexplate but only two of the three bolt holes are in contact with the flexplate.

Why not put the 3rd bolt on and then have somebody turn the engine over by hand and monitor the flexplate from underneath? Slap a dial indicator on the side to see if it is outta whack.
