Default Reasonable price...header install?

I'm going tomorrow to talk to a guy who is very good with vettes. I would like a set of headers installed this off season and would like a ballpark figure before I go see him. Any experiences with this?

C4, particularly the passanger side, headers are a notoriously a PIA to install. I have shory's to keep the cats due to stringent emission controlls here in the Dallas area. Headers and install ran right at $1,000.

2nd best mod I've done.

For what it's worth it took me & my mechanic friend a good 8-10 hours to install my hooker shorty's.Only to find out I had no more power than before[I figured w my cam, ign,& intake mods I would benifit from headers].if you read the board most people say it ain't worth the time & $,most dyno's say 5-7hp gain.I wish I never bothered,& dont even ask about the leaks I've had.Good luck.

wow, I have a friend that owns a little repair shop. He'll put headers on for $100-$200. Hmm.. I guess that's a killer deal.

I was quoted about $700 here in Ft Worth. the guy said it was a 2hr job on the driver side and a 4hr job on the passenger side. you can use that as a guide on your local rates.

me I'm just waiting until i have enough time to install them myself. that money can go on other mods.

Gee, I installed my Hooker Shorties in about the same time, but I was checking everything twice and really cleaning it up and used copper gaskets. No leaks here and with the Jet-hot coating they look much better than the rusty iron manifolds, less heat in the engine compartment, too. Glad I did it.
