Default Z51 shocks

With the extra unsprung weight on the front end coming from AFS 9-1/2 rims, bigger tires and the C5 brake upgrade, the front end seems seems to have more wheel rebound than before when everything was stock. Will putting Z51 shocks on the front help keep the tires planted to the road better?

I thinks so! but let me explain, I have done things incrementally so I can't be sure what started whe.

I have always run the Z 51 on my 88 Z52.

Two years ago, with otherwise stock set up, I was getting inside wheel lift under hard cornering (tail of the Dragon)

This year installed y2k wheels, C5 brakes, new Z51 shocks (old ones wore out in 25000miles) and 30mm front, 24 mm rear sway bars.

Same Tail of the Dragon, faster thru the corners and no wheel lift.

I think the sway bars my have has the most to do with it

You bring up a good point about your shocks being wore out after 25,000 miles, I have 21,000 on my car but being a 93 they are 11 yrs old and they appear to be in good shape but who knows. I actually noticed the difference after putting the new rims and tires on and then after putting the C5 brakes I noticed that it seemed to be little more pronounced.

jack - are your sway bars tubular or solid, f/r? Did ride quality change much?
Reason I'm asking is I have a FE1 equipped 89 and was considering upgrading to those bars to get a little more g's in the corners w/o sacrificing ride quality.

Bars are solid, not tubular.

Ride may be a litle "harder", but not noticeable or objectionable.

check out vettenut.org/susp_chart.html for different years and specs

I found that when I went to the 30 in front, I had to modify vertical links to be sure they remained "vertical" Otherwise, they acted more like a spring than a link.

You need to study that chart a little better.
