Ok...i think the climate control unit in th '94 has kicked the bucket, but before i shell out the funds to replace it, i thought i'd ask to see if that's for sure the problem.
A couple weeks ago, the unit just went dead. The backlight works, so i'm ASSUMING the unit is getting juice, but there's no LCD display of temperature, none of the controls work, and even the rear defroster doesn't respond.
Anyone else experiance this? And if it IS the unit, anyone have a feel for what the replacement part cost will be?
Since you're in NC anyway, I thought I would mention this. You know there is a place by the I-85 service road in Charlotte that rebuilds those head units, right?
If you decide you want to go that route, let me know, I'll get their phone number Monday.
My 96 LT4 climate controll is not working correctly as all of the buttons on the head work( fan goes up and down and temp change is possible) it`s the cold air comes out the heater duck and defroster. I replaced all of the vaccum nipples and the check valve under the fuel rail on the intake manifold same problem and now the Cruise Control does not work??I am going check to see if I am getting vaccum to the controller that is behind the radio in the dash ( I think, need a GM manual)
PTz-92-LT1...Thanks for the info. The units SHOULD be the same cost, with a different part# (the 94 has white lettering on the buttons, i think it was still orange in 92. Right?)
Hi'ya Newbie! Sorry i couldn't make it to the Shroom the other night to meet'cha. Are you talkin' about "Dixie Electronics"??? If you are...i'm yankin' that sum beach out this afternoon and dropin' it of TOMORROW!!! They do GREAT work on Delco/Bose radio/CD player repair!
Louis...i had that problem...and took the same steps you did. Turned out there was a slight crack in one of the arms of that check valve by the fuel rail (passenger side). Spent WEEKS overlooking the obvious! :cuss
Hey Jim, Did you replace one of the computers the other day? Maybe bumped a wire or something? Hope you're feeling better. Mark is going to fit right in our group along with Kirby.

Tom,
Thanks for the kind words, it was obvious after meeting with ya'll the other night that it's going to be a fun time.
Jim,
Sorry you couldn't make it. Yes, I'm talking about Dixie Electronics. I didn't know if you knew them but it may be cheaper to have them repair it than replace it and like you said, they do a great job.
I also think they'll give you a loaner while yours is being repaired.(if it's not too much hassle to pull)
Hope to meet you soon. The car will be out for a week or so but we'll meet soon.
Tom....Nope...didn't really mess with the computers. The ECC did something like this a year or so ago, but it magicly fixed itself so i didn't think any more about it...but it was probably a warning.

Excellent!!! Know exactly where it is! I drive that section of I-85 on the way home (when i'm in town  )
They repaired my Blows CD player a couple years ago for a very reasonable price (~$60 to replace the CD player and clean/service the cassette!) IF i get my "other" weekend project completed in time...i'll yank that sucka out this afternoon! Thanks for the advice!!!
