Diacom Help Needed
Problem is the new laptop doesn't have an operating system or a CD-ROM drive.
Now I've got to find either DOS 6.2 or Windows 3.1 to get this relic up and running.
Any ideas on how this can be done?
Thanks,
Jake

Make a boot disk on another computer with Win 95/98. Build an Autoexec.bat file to boot up Diacom on the floppy disk and everything should work fine.

That will make you a DOS 6.22 boot disk that you can then use to format your HDD and copy Diacom onto it.

I tried booting using an old Win98 boot disk but I keep getting a msg of "Invalid boot Disk" etc.
Dos=high, dos=UMB then there was a Himem.sys line, a prompt line, a temp line, Gezzzzzz, seems like centuries ago. Oh, yea, and some were LH to free up the first 640 of memory.
If I recall they had to be entered into Autoexec.bat in a certain order too.
Sure wish I'd saved a copy of that Bat file now.
Does anyone have one saved that they can email me a JakeJr266@aol.com?
Thanks,
Jake
Once booted...
A:\>format c:
When that is done...
A:\>sys c:
That will transfer the boot files to the HDD so you can boot to C:

I was able to use the file to make the laptop boot and I was able to install Diacom.
I still can't get it to boot from the 'C' drive though, it'll only boot from the floppy, but that's okay with me.
I tried copying the floppy files to the "C" drive, but it still won't boot from the "C". I then went into Setup, but there isn't an option for boot sequence or priority.
No matter, Diacom runs and I thank all of you very much.

Wouldn't boot from the Win98 startup disk (tried two different ones). I even tried booting it with a ME disk, then swapping in the Win98 disk; nope.
Tried the sys c: command and only got error msgs.
So either my Win98 disks are dead or I'm dead or both.
In any event Diacom is alive and well and that was my mission anyway, right?
Thanks again.
Jake

I did the sys c: thing using that disk and the laptop now boots from the 'C' drive, so I'm as happy as a puppy eatin' sh**.
VetteNoob, I went to the site you posted and it has the same file that Scorp sent me the link to. I did save that site to my Favorite Places for any future need. Thanks for that tip.
Now I've got to buy a battery for the stupid laptop because the one in it won't take a charge. Always something!
